What are the prospects for the north’s grassy landscapes?
What are the best ways to manage for production and conservation in
those landscapes? The TS-CRC is holding a major conference to
explore these sort of questions.
To be held in Katherine in the Northern Territory, close to
pastoral areas and grasslands, the Northern Grassy Landscapes
Conference will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders,
including producers and conservationists.
Themes
The conference will explore:
- Managing for conservation and production at local and landscape
levels
- Best practice management of grassy landscapes for pastoral,
Aboriginal, mining, defence, tourism and conservation managers
- Integrated regional planning, extension and community action
- Management tools for tackling fire, weeds and feral animals
- Future prospects for the northern grasslands
A broad range of people are expected to attend and include
landowners, managers, community group members, extension officers,
farm consultants, local and state government representatives and
researchers. And of course, people with an interest in sustainable
land use and conservation.
