In collaboration with Queensland's Regional Natural
Resource Management (NRM) Taskforces’ Regional Arrangements
Planning Team, a Tropical Savannas CRC project looked at improving
regional planning integration in savanna regions. Involved in the
project teams were Bruce Taylor from CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems
and Allan Dale from Queensland's Department of Natural Resources
and Mines.
“By working with Natural Resources and Mines and community
planners in both the Burdekin and Fitzroy Regional Bodies,
we’ve been able to put together some practical advice for
regions and the policy makers in Brisbane,” said project
manager Bruce Taylor.
This advice is in the form of two short guidelines (downloadable
at right) on improving integration as well as working closely with
the vegetation and water planning areas on adaptive management
opportunities in their Resource Vegetation Management Plans (RVMP)
and Water Resource Planning (WRP) activities.
