The TS-CRC Board met on March 2 in Darwin. Much of the meeting was
concerned with finalising the preliminary business case for the new
CRC for Tropical Savannas Futures (see below). The Board also
reviewed the impact assessment of the TS-CRC compiled by the Centre
for International Economics (CIE). The CIE report will play a
significant role in assessing the overall impact of the
TS-CRC—details of this report will be available in future
newsletters and on the staff website.
The TS-CRC Savanna Advisory Committee met on February 28. This
meeting was devoted to a workshop run by Margo O'Byrne that aimed
to:
- share the collective wisdom of the group;
- clarify the roles of members of the SAC;
- investigate the best way for the committee to operate; and
- recommend the membership and operational style of the SAC in the
future.
The workshop was enlightening and while no major changes to the
operation of the SAC were suggested, several recommendations
emerged that should help SAC members work more effectively with the
TS-CRC.
