NAILSMA and the Social Partnerships in Learning Research
Consortium (SPiL) are working together to develop tools that will
help rangers participating in the I-Tracker project learn how to
use CyberTracker software.
The tools being developed are visually-based audiovisual clips
which will be produced in a number of different languages narrated
by participants. They will be used by ranger groups and trainers to
teach rangers how to use CyberTracker software to accurately
collect and report data. This will assist the ranger groups to
manage country and meet contractual requirements of organisations
they may engage with.
An important feature is the direction provided by senior people
– who decide what is included in the tools and add their
voice to project.
When complete, the tools will be made available to rangers at
ranger stations for them to use at any time.
The Indigenous Rangers’ I-Tracker Training Development
project is funded by Indigenous Training for Employment Program,
Northern Territory Government.
The Saltwater People Network is supported by NAILSMA, through
funding from the Australian Government’s Caring for our
Country.
